Plants Galore

 .

I haven't stamped for a couple days again.

So I feel a bit rusty at it.  And my inks 

were all weird, and by the time I got done

fussing with them, I had ink all over my hands.   

I chose to play with patterned paper again.

It will forever be an obstacle for me and one

that I will forever try to overcome.  (wink)

The stamp set featured in this card is:

Stampin Up:  Plentiful Plants 

The striped DSP reminds me of some clown

pants from the seventies.  I don't know why,

and I'm trying to overlook it.  I just need 

to use up some of the scraps I have 

accumulated over the years. 

I had to leave the one pot empty because when

I put a plant in it, I couldn't see the one behind

it so well.  I sort of like it this way.  Gives a 

bit of hope and anticipation as to what will be 

growing in this little pot.  To bad I didn't 

have a cute little gecko to stamp on the rim.  

I could see him crawling around inside one 

of the planters but I wouldn't appreciate it. 

I thought I'd stamp plants because I just 

purchased us a new plant stand.  I'm 

so excited I even put it together myself,

in fact I could barely get up off the floor

when I was done.  But I was quite proud

of how it turned out.  and it's still standing.  

Below is a picture of the old stands.  They

were outdoor stands and a bit wobbly.  

Here is the new stand I built.

and back up in the window with a few 

of my plants.  The inspiration for today's card.

The spring cactus is still blooming.

Summer Card

Summer.  My favorite time of the year. 

When I came across the challenge at:

CAS on Friday

SUMMER

I knew I'd want to play along.

The stamp sets featured in this card are:

Stampin Up:  Season by Season, Cheerful Daisies 

I hope this qualifies as CAS.  It really 

is just the DSP doing a little work 

for the background. 

The stampin is quiet simple indeed. 

The sentiment was stamped directly onto the DSP.

The daises were stamped and then die cut, and

I also cut out the filler parts too, so I could raise

each flower up with some dimensionals.  I love the 

bright summery colors.  

Speaking of colors and summer.  Check

out my cute little dahlia growing.  So vibrant.

Christmas In July

I made a non-traditional Christmas card. 

The colors and the vase.  Just seemed 

like something I'd like to try and do to 

incorporate my new stamp set.

CAS Colours & Sketches

The stamp sets featured in this card are:

Stampin Up:  Earthen Textures, Hope & Peace 

I sponged the vertical strip with blackberry bliss

to match the cardstock.  then stamped the sentiments

directly on the paper.  The vase and arrangement I stamped

and then die cut.  I cut the vase in quarters to make it

fit in the appropriate space.  I added the embellishements

to "spruce" it up a bit. 

I love how clean it turned out.  

The sentiment is so lovely.  

I'm so happy I actually stamped it straight.

That's a miracle right there. 

I am still on my Hamilton kick.  Reading all sorts

of history novels.  I never knew how much I'd 

love it.  Now it's time for a lighter read.  My daughter

recommended me a book, tis a bit of a mystery so 

we shall see how it goes.  We love sharing

book recommendations with each other.  I'm

so happy our kids love to read. 

HP is most excited about this peapod.  

It's a whopper.  This is our first

year growing peas.  I don't like veggies,

however I did try it, and will admit 

the smaller they are, they seem sweeter, and

I can tolerate them.  I  am grateful for that.

Set Sail

Hello Friends.  

I found a new (to me) challenge to play 

along with.  It's always so exciting to find

another challenge blog.

I will submit this card to the challenge at:

Sketch Saturday

The stamp set featured in this card is:

Stampin Up:  Let's set sail, 

The sentiment is from stampendous.

I used an embossing folder to create the waves 

on the white card stock.  DSP for the diagonal 

piece on this card, and then I stamped the 

sentiment, and the sail boat.  

I was a wee bit concerned the sailboat 

was not going to fit at first.  But phew, it 

worked like a charm.  Yay. 

I was thinking of all the ways adventure 

awaits us when we set sail.  Whether in

a new job, a new location, or even new 

little choices, like choosing better foods.

We set sail for success when we 

 keep God as our guide and help.

Here is HP ~ This little fella

is showing his age, but not when he gets outside.

He loves it and is always ready to chase squirrels.  

He turned 12 in June. 

Below is a picture of our garden.  This 

is our 3rd  year, so we are still in the learning 

process, and as you can see I planted a perimeter

of crops, thinking it would be a swell idea,

well I've blocked myself out of the garden for 

weeding.  Not the best idea, but next year

I will do better.

Bee-lieve

Hello Friends.   

I started the week off with labs at the clinic.  

I have to say my motivational self must have made

all my appointments for this week, because my 

unmotivated self is not appreciating them now.  

I was very happy with my blood sugar at 101. 

After all the candy and sweet tea I've been drinking

It was a miracle.  Thank you Jesus.  

Some of my other tests are not so good.  But the one I was concerned about

is coming down slowly, so I'm grateful for that too.   I have other 

pointers that are too low. It amazes me how much they can 

tell from those tubes of blood.  Anyways the last time 

they did my panel in March it was $4000.00 just for labs, I'm telling

them the mosquitos get my blood for free, please take a lesson. haha

We got some much needed rain here this past weekend. 

My garden very much appreciated it.

I have a beehive over by our fence, and I'm thinking

it is carpenter bees, which is ok, since they are good

pollinators.  Just don't want to get too close to the nest 

to find out.  Much like honey bees, or bumble bees, they

won't usually sting unless disturbed.  While the darn

yellow jackets just sting for the fun of it.  sigh. 

Any ways, that is where I got my inspiration for today's card.

I thought I'd focus on the bees.  and "Bee-lieve" in a 

good doctor's appointment tomorrow.

and Lawn Fawn: Bee Mine

I used one DSP but flipped it over so that the colors matched

for the top and bottom of the sketch, just a tad different look.

I absolutely love those little stamped bees.  They are so cute.  It's 

such a nice bright card, makes me smile.  

I'm propagating some of my house plants.  I finally

got the nerve to try cutting my rubber tree.  I

am happy to report the mama plant is hanging in 

there and the cuttings are getting roots.  

Thank you Jesus.  

I also took a bunch of these succulent leaves on 

my plants to see what would happen, and 

folks, they are doing pretty good.  I wanted

the lola's to grow, they are the bigger ones

on the outer rim, and so far I don't see any roots

for them, but I'm not giving up hope yet.  

Here is a closer look at the little succulents

blooming from the leaves. 

I also tried one more thing recently, painting

a mandala design on a rock.  Gosh it was fun.

I looked up the word mandala, and good grief,

a gal could get lost trying to figure out if this is

safe or something more sinister.  So I like this 

definition of it best, 

Mandala stones are meditative symbols that

 are created by painting smooth river rocks

 with intricate patterns of dots. The art and practice 

of creating the mandala is a form of 

meditation, a soothing ritual that allows the painter 

to express their creativity and find a sense of calmness.

However, I don't use my stones for healing or meditative purposes. 

I painted it because I think they look pretty, and I love

the patterns.  I don't believe it's anything like bringing in evil forces to

paint a rock with circle (dots)  Oh my what people can think of.    Any ways

it's not even that nice.  Hopefully I will get better at it, and maybe add

those to my etsy shop as well.

Thank you card

Hello Friends.  I've been  busy lately.  

I decided to re-open my etsy shop.  I haven't 

yet restocked it but I did make a new banner

for it, the same as the one here on my blog.

I just gave things a bit of a refresh.  

I even went through and deleted some 

of the duplicate badges to try and save

space and make the blog look better.  

While I was doing that, my husband painted

my craft room white for me.  So I took some 

pictures and updated "my craft room" tab. 

I finally got to make a card after putting 

my stamp room back together.  Ooooh how

I missed stamping.  It just helps my brain. 

However, I must also add that during this

time off, my lap top's harddrive crashed. 

So that was awful, and we took it over 

to have a new hard drive put in, now my speaker

don't work properly, and it won't stay light.

So looks like we will be going back.  Sigh. 

At least it worked well enough to get a few 

of my updates done, and such.

Stampin up: Happy & Heartfelt 

I had so much fun making this card.  It's

 for my dad, and if you look closely

on the bookshelf, I labeled the middle book 'DAD'

I enjoyed the different layers on this card and also

embossing the bottom section.  I think it just gives 

it so much interest and depth. 

HP went to the groomers today.  Bryan said he did really 

good.  Which makes me happy.   You see the little guy 

 is 12 now, and a bit temperamental (grouchy).  

He also has developed many little bumps and 

skin tags  that they have to be careful with when they 

shave him down.  And so I'm happy  he is home and resting.  

I will get a picture later of his new look.
