FUSION Coral Flowers Garden in Bloom, Number of Years, You're Delightful, Stampin UP

I made this card for my Grandma, who will be 95 years young this June 12th.  GOSH she is what we refer to as the matriarch of the family.  I Love her dearly.   She has had a rough year so far, we all have, and we are all concerned for her, but she proves to us time and time again how strong she is.  She had to bury two more adult children this year, my mom passed away in Jan.  and then my Aunt in April..  Grandma has lived through so much, and I always enjoy going to her house and hearing her share stories of the past and how she grew up.. we usually get stuck in world war 2.. that's when she was home with babies and Grandpa was off fighting... along with her brothers.  It had to be such a scary time no doubt.. then she gets talking about the President, and all the presidents that she has lived through and that in itself is pretty impressive.😉  So I wanted to make her a cheery card, to celebrate her. 💛

I found the perfect challenge to play along with:

I chose to use both the sketch and the photo as inspiration in my card.

I started with the soft stripes in the background.. I sponged on some very light colored pink, I wanted to stick with coral, but it was to dark/heavy, however, I saved it for stamping the flowers  because it really made the flowers pop.
I fussy cut out the flowers and leaves, and then die cut out the banners and numbers.  I sponged the banner to give it a bit more color, and then also carried it through underneath the little circles.  It just seemed to tie it all together.    I think Grandma is going to LOVE the little gold accents in the middle of the flowers.

I'm also including a picture of my spring cactus which is blooming. SO super lovely.   I was worried about her the past few months so I'm delighted to see her flowering.

  2. What a beautiful card - I'm sure your Grandmother loved it! I think it's so sad one has to bury their children. This has been a rough year. Your Xmas cactus looks great - my sometimes blooms either at Xmas or Easter.
